For the 4,380th time [Give or take]
I was taking my contacts out.
One of those comfortingly annoying parts of my bedtime ritual
[Especially since I refuse to get Lasik]
This time, though, something felt different.
I took a moment, staring in the mirror,
Noticing my beard getting a little grayer than the year before,
And the year before that.
While I turned my head from side to side, a thought popped into my head.
“Is this it?”
Not an “Is this it” from a mortality perspective, but an “Is this all I’m willing to do?”
45, joking about being “Halfway Done”
Maybe I could share where I’ve been,
And what I’ll do with the rest.
So I resolved to Write. Speak. Document.
Constantly (ish)
Something I experienced, realized, learned from.
Tips. Tricks. Ideas.
Something that might be useful to someone.
A way I might give a little back.
That way when this IS it I won’t ask
“Could I have done more,” but rather, “hopefully I helped… at least a little.”
[And yes Mom, I’ll remember to put the punctuation inside the quotes]
Thanks for joining this documentarian*
For the next 45 (or so).
